Osteoarthritis
While chiropractic cannot reverse the process of osteoarthritis, we can improve YOUR quality of life while living with the disease. If you're suffering from osteoarthritis, your spine is usually less flexible; therefore, it becomes more vulnerable to injury. Your pain and discomfort can be managed Naturally, and I can Help YOU.

Well Being:
Wellness, simply put, is way of life.
Health is not just the absence of disease. It is the presence of vitality -- the ability to function with vigor and to live actively, energetically, and fully.
Vitality comes from a state of optimal physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, interpersonal, social, and environmental well-being. People at all ages and levels of physical and mental ability can increase their vitality and wellness.
Today, people have greater control over their health than ever before. They invest in their health by utilizing gym memberships, yoga, organic foods and supplements, personal coaching, positive relationships, and chiropractic treatments that focus on heightening their potential and life quality.
Being responsible for one's health means making choices and adopting habits and behaviors that will ensure wellness.

Stress Management:
Physical and environmental stressors surround us. Illness, injuries, and aging can cause tremendous stress. Emotional stress will often manifest itself in a physical way in our bodies as anything from a low-grade tension to an acutely painful condition.
By developing and maintaining healthy exercise and eating habits, and mastering simple techniques to identify and keep an eye on individual stressors, you can learn to control the stress in your life.
People who manage stress effectively are healthier, and they have more time to enjoy life and accomplish their goals. Regular chiropractic adjustments can help to release tension and allow your body systems to function optimally.

Posture And Exercise:
Posture and exercise rank at the top of the list when you are talking about good health. They are as important as eating right, exercising, getting a good night's sleep and avoiding potentially harmful substances like alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
Good posture means your bones are properly aligned and your muscles, joints and ligaments can work as nature intended. Your vital organs are in the right position and can function at peak efficiency. Good posture helps contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Without good posture, your overall health and total efficiency may be compromised. Long-term effects of poor posture can affect bodily systems (such as digestion, elimination, breathing, muscles, joints and ligaments), and a person who has poor posture may often be tired or unable to work efficiently or move properly.
Exercise programs have been proven to be beneficial in the prevention and treatment of muscle and skeletal injuries. Maintaining flexibility through stretching, and gaining muscle tone through strengthening exercises are important aspects of an exercise routine, and will protect and support the body structure to better prevent an injury. When an injury does occur, it will often leave the body in need of reconditioning. A body that was strong prior to the injury will usually respond faster to the healing process.
At Natural State Healing Arts, treatment of new injuries focuses on reducing inflammation, restoring spinal alignment, and postural training, stretches and exercise instruction right from day one.

Pinched Nerve:
The term “pinched nerve” is commonly used to describe the pain associated with a variety of conditions.
Most of the time, what is called a pinched nerve is actually an irritated, or inflamed nerve where the nerve itself is not actually pinched. Nerves become irritated and inflamed when the bones, joints or muscles of the spine are not in their proper position, or are not moving properly. This condition is called a “subluxation”, the treatment of which is the specialty of the doctor of chiropractic.
There are instances when nerves do become ‘pinched’, such as in carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica and thoracic outlet syndrome. In each of these cases, injury, spasm or inflammation of the surrounding muscles and connective tissue causes the nerve to become compressed, resulting in pain. Chiropractic adjustments combined with exercises and stretching can remove or reduce compression of the vertebrae and help the muscles relax, which can minimize inflammation and reduce or eliminate the associated pain.

Sciatica And Leg Pain:
Who would think that one nerve could cause such severe pain? Pressure on the sciatic nerve can force even the most resilient person to seek treatment.
Sciatica gets its name from the longest and largest nerve in the body, the sciatic nerve, which is as thick as your pinkie. The sciatic nerve is composed of smaller nerves that join together in the pelvis, after they exit the lower spine. The sciatic nerve then travels down the entire length of each leg, dividing again into smaller nerves as it reaches the knees and the lower legs. Sciatica is defined as pain anywhere along the course of the sciatic nerve. This could be from the lower back down to the hips or buttocks, all the way down into our legs, feet and toes.
We will examine the low back to determine if the pain relates to the spine and/or its surrounding muscles. In-depth history and exam can determine what is the cause of your discomfort and how best to treat it.

Scoliosis:
Scoliosis is a descriptive term, not a disease. All spines have curves. Some curvature is normal. However, abnormal side-to-side (lateral) curves in the spinal column, are not normal, and are referred to as scoliosis.
Scoliosis is usually a hereditary condition that usually develops during middle to late childhood. Symptoms may include uneven shoulders, obvious leaning to one side, uneven waist, prominent shoulder blades, and elevated hips. Scoliosis cannot be corrected with better posture.
Adult scoliosis may represent the progression of an undiagnosed and untreated condition that began in childhood, in which a slight curve may have progressed to a more severe curvature. Scoliosis can also be caused by degenerative changes of the spine or osteoporosis.
Chiropractic is the number one treatment for most types of scoliosis. While medical doctors take a watch and wait approach, hoping the scoliosis will not progress to the point where surgery is necessary, chiropractic takes a proactive approach. By optimizing spinal and nervous system function, chiropractic care can help decrease the pain and often stop the progression of or lessen the severity of scoliosis.
